FIRE Girls Teams Find Success at Crusader's Cup
u11, u13 and u14 girls

Congradulations to the FIRE u11, u13 and u14 girls teams who brought home hardware from the April 26th & 27th Crusader's Cup held in Kalamazoo, MI.  The u14 girls team took first place out of a five team round robin bracket, narrowly beating out the u13 FIRE girls out of Grandville who were playing up an age group and still finished second.  The u11 girls out of Grandville, coached by JD Miller, beat the Kingdom 89er's in the finals to be crowned Champions of the u11 girls silver bracket.

u14 girls Premier Tournament Finalists

The u14 FIRE Premier girls team came home with some hardware after a cold and windy weekend tournament.  The ladies attended the NSR Region II Tournament in Rockford, IL April 25-27.  After finishing up their preliminary round bracket with three wins and no losses, the team advanced onto the finals where they fell to a strong u14 GRCJ team.  The girls finished up their weekend as the Runner Up Champions, congrats ladies on a great tournament!

u17 Boys: Crossroads College Showcase Champs

A big congratulations goes out to the u17 Premier boys who went undefeated at the Crossroads of America College Showcase the weekend of April 18th-20th.  Led by new head coach, Dan Orao, the boys were crowned Crossroad Champions and finished #1 out of 27 possible teams placed in the u17 boys age bracket.

FIRE Team Returns from Mexico

They weren’t rockstars, Hollywood actresses, or even professional women’s soccer players....they were a group of u13-u14 Fire girls who travelled from West Michigan to participate in the Copa Queretaro Soccer Tournament, held March 16th - 20th, but there is no doubt that each young lady felt more famous than Mia Hamm for the week they spent in Mexico.

Coach Courtney Nash commented on the experience as a whole, "We were graciously welcomed by the Los Lobos Soccer Club and the soccer community as a whole while we stayed in Queretaro.  The girls were constantly asked for pictures with local players and teams and were highlighted in the sports sections of a couple different local newspapers.  All in all it was an invaluable culteral experience that goes far beyond wins and losses."
