Women’s soccer lives in the first national soccer league for women, the
W-League. Providing the most complete women’s player pool in the World. The W-League is recognized as North Americas best women’s development organization. The W-League gives the nation’s best college players the opportunity to play alongside established international players while maintaining their collegiate eligibility.
The dream for a West Michigan based W-League team was first realized in the summer of 2004 under the West Michigan Edge. In 2005 the West Michigan Fire Juniors, a MLS Chicago FIRE affliated youth club, purchased the franchise rights for the W-League team, and the local college and post college players took the field for a second year under the title of the West Michigan Firewomen.
In 2007, the Firewomen will be entering their third year in the W-League. The program directors are looking to continue to build and develop a team based on local talent that will consistently compete at the highest level of women’s soccer in the US.
Come join the Firewomen in 2007 as we look to make a run for the Conference title!
