Levels of Play
What’s best for your child?

As a parent how do you determine what level of competition is best suited for your son or daughter?

What is best for your child....

The Chicago Fire Juniors of Michigan Soccer Club recognizes that each player is unique with individual needs that will help them develop to their fullest as a player.  With this philosophy in mind, the FIRE offer each player and family the opportunity to play at different level of competitiveness.

The CFJ-Michigan provide programs ranging from ages 3-18yrs and teams from u8-u18 that compete locally, thoughout the state and across the Midwest region.

This particular programming provides natural developmental pathways that will allow the technical staff the ability to place the player at the level play where he or she belongs.  It is the FIRE’s objective to always put the player’s interest first.  This might mean that a player registered to a second team may be asked to move up to the first team where he or she will be more challenged to continue developing. The decision, made by the FIRE Technical Training Staff, will always be based on what’s in the best interest of the player’s long term development.

College....What college recruiters look for in players are good SAT / ACT scores and GPA; then they look for players who have presence on the field, who can play with both feet, and who play the ball well on the ground and in the air.  How many games have been won, the number of goals scored and what trophies a player might have...are NOT things college recruiters care about.

This is another reason why the CFJ-Michigan Program philosophy adamantly focuses on developing players in the following areas:

  • Strong technical skill base.
  • Understanding of both individual and team tactics.
  • Develop a love for the game which leads players to play the best they can
  • Develop commitment to the importance of being part of a team.
  • Exposure to different levels of competition.
