Arrival in Mexico

After an early morning with a flight out of Detroit Metro Airport that lasted for 5+ hours, the team finally arrived in Mexico City Airport.  Slowly they made through way through customs and airport security.  With only the name Mauricio Rebolledo, the team waited for our guide sent from the city of Queretaro to lead us from the jungle of airport chaos to the awaiting bus that would take us to Queretaro.  Mauricio showed up quickly, carrying a paper plate with the words "Holland Fire".  That was only the beginning of the adventures with teh team’s soon to be great guide, companion and friend, Mauricio.

Escorted to an awaiting bus, the team travelled for another 3-4 hours until they finally reach their destination, the Mansion del Burro Azul.  It was at the Burro Azul in which the team with eat, sleep and spend all their down time throughout the week.  "We couldn’t have asked for better accomodations for the ladies.  It was absolutely perfect!  I was told the Burro Azul, the Blue Donkey, was formerly a little mission that had been coverted over to a hostel of sorts.  It was open spaced, a homey sort of environment, and out of 7 possible rooms, we were using 4 and another one was for the staff...so we pretty much had the place to ourselves." said Coach Courtney.

The Burro was definately a "home" experience as the girls and mom’s shared beds, in two rooms, three people to one bed!  The showers weren’t always hot if you were the first one up in the morning...and we won’t mention the day when our water ran out for a few hours or the supposedly seen scorpion that first night.  Critiques...definately NOT!!!  Each little quick that the team encountered only added to the overall experience by adding jokes, laughter and smiles that quickly turned into team bonding.
